My daughter Charlotte has been singing, acting and dancing since she was 3 years old. She has attended Performance Arts Schools as it has always been her passion and enjoyment. Her dream is to become an Actress/Singer and has taken it seriously as she gets older.
I came across Premiere’s ad for the December 2015 event on Facebook last year and without thinking it twice decided to send Charlotte’s details for the Sydney auditions. Charlotte auditioned for Premiere in late September at the Westin Hotel in Sydney.
Michael Palance evaluated every single one of the children personally; Michael was very effective at reducing the kids’ nerves by turning the audition process into what looked like a game of “let’s act”. He was extremely funny, yet dramatic at the same time, making it a truly fun experience.
After first audition I had a very excited yet nervous young lady waiting to see if she will get an invitation to return the following day for the second round of evaluations.
Second day candidates were told immediately after their performances whether they were being invited to the Premiere showcasing event or not. After successfully passing two evaluations she was handpicked by Michael David Palance the Director of Premiere to attend the program at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida in December 2015.
Those who were invited to attend were briefed in a separate room where the Premiere staff sat down with us and discussed the various options within the program, helping us select the best modules for Charlotte.
Premiere produces the largest global industry event dedicated to showcasing Actors, Models, Dancers and Singers to Talent Agents, Managers and Industry Professionals who specialize in kids programming between the ages of 5 – 18. Young performers from all over the world go through their interview process in order to be invited to attend Premiere. The weeklong event draws dozens of today’s top Talent Agents, Managers, Casting Directors and Record Labels from across the globe looking to find their next discovery for upcoming projects.
Once signed up, we were able to access the Premiere website, which offers a tremendous amount of information that helps participants learn about the program, access resources to help them prepare, and takes them through the entire process, step by step.
Charlotte had a Mentor all the way through and soon she was doing Facetime calls for training and preparation for the December event. Dru West is an amazing coach, and now a great friend. Charlotte had plenty of time to select her monologues and music, and there was more than enough time for her to learn her lines and songs.
We arrived in Orlando a week before the event, giving us all time to overcome the jet lag and spend a bit of time on sightseeing. Premiere also has discounted theme park tickets!
Day one of the Premiere event at the Swan and Dolphin hotel was all about registration, collection of printed headshots, resumes, and timetables. Premiere was well organised from the beginning and offered a place where headshots could be email to making it extremely convenient to have the printed copies waiting for us at the hotel, especially when we were traveling from far, giving us more room in our luggage needed for other things.
During the Premiere Charlotte participated in a Red Carpet event and question and answer forums where Disney stars shared their experiences from auditions to playing their roles on the Disney Channel, which allowed her to meet, Skai Jackson – “Jessie” and “Bunk’d”, Peyton Meyer – “Girl Meets World” and “Dog with a Blog”, Peyton List – “Jessie”, JJ Totah – “Jessie” and “Glee”.
Out of 75,000 auditions worldwide only 500 were selected for the “Premiere ” at Walt Disney World in December. During the arduous weeklong event Charlotte had to perform nonstop daily in front of industry professionals from around the world in each category, singing, acting, modelling and dancing. Based on votes from the industry professionals Charlotte won third place overall for her age group which also resulted in seven agencies showing interest for further development/projects.
Charlotte has subsequently signed with an agent in Sydney and a manager in Los Angeles. There is without a doubt that PREMIERE has open many doors for Charlotte’s bright future and not to mention the friendships made that will last a lifetime.
We were also invited to join the Premiere Families group on Facebook, which is only available to Premiere attendees and staff. It’s a great way to keep in touch and seek answers to questions that inevitably come up, keeping us all in the Premiere Family!
Recently we have been invited as Premiere alumni to attend the Premiere Sydney auditions and we can’t wait to see all Premiere Staff again.
Thank you Premiere!
